I wrote this song in one of the most desperate and vulnerable chapters of my life, something I have shared very little about here. My body had collapsed into chronic fatigue. I would struggle even to walk up the stairs. I felt like I was disappearing, trapped inside an exhaustion that no one could see. I was depressed and would wake up each day and just wish I was not here anymore. I lost trust in my body. Lost trust in life. Lost trust in myself. It was a dark time. Lonely. Raw. Just terrifying. I was breaking in ways I didn’t know how to name. And yet in the very depth of that collapse something inside me was profoundly changing. There grew a a quiet knowing, a whisper that this pain was not here to destroy me but here to bring messages of truth from the wisdom of my body, to help me realign and heal the trauma I carried from my childhood and ancestry. Within this darkness, seeds were being planted. The breaking was also an of opening. Within the grief…gold. Within the shaking … roots growing. Within the fear … courage forming. I could feel, even then, that this struggle was teaching me how to come home to myself. How to feel safe in my body. How to soften instead of resist. To hold the frightened child inside me with love instead of shame. This song is that prayer. For anyone in the dark. For anyone who feels they are falling apart. For anyone who has lost hope. There is a beauty that can emerge from the breaking. There is life growing quietly within you. You are not alone in it. You are safe. You are loved. You are held. You are whole. May you find your way, guided by the beautiful and powerful wisdom of your body and spirit. I believe in you and I bow to your courage to walk your journey home.
